Most of the two-piece sets are a super-soft cotton blend, typically 95% cotton with 5% elastane, so there's a little stretch for climbing into bed and rolling around the next morning. Some sets are 100% cotton, and the onesies are a cosy fleece. It's a mix chosen for comfort against the skin and for holding its shape through a busy season of wear, washing and hand-me-downs.

Caring for them is straightforward: a gentle machine wash at 30 to 40°C with similar colours, no tumble drying or bleach, and a low-temperature iron if you want them crisp for the photo. Treated that way, a set that started on your eldest has a good chance of fitting the next child down a year or two later.

Sizing by age

Our children's sizing runs by age rather than abstract numbers, which makes it easy to pick without a tape measure. As a rule, choose the size your child would normally wear, and if they're between two bands, size up: a touch of room is more comfortable for sleeping and buys you a little longer before they outgrow the set.
